The Alesis M1 Active 520 USB studio monitors are a monitoring system specifically designed for use in professional studios. They consist of two active, bi-amplified, two-way reference monitors that offer a frequency response between 20,000 Hz and 56 Hz, and feature a USB audio interface.
Digital signal from the computer can be fed into the monitors, and audio can be sent back to the computer via the interface. These monitors include a 5” polypropylene woofer and a 1” silk dome tweeter. Their specially designed crossover prevents the delicate mid-range vocal frequencies, ensuring that mixes sound the same as they were recorded. The low-resonance bass reflex enclosure features rounded corners to reduce diffraction angles and a tuned port to enhance the bass frequencies. The amplification system delivers 50+25 W RMS per channel.
On the front panel of the ALESIS M1ACTIVE 520, there is a headphone output via a 1/4" stereo jack, which mutes the speakers when connected. When headphones are plugged in, the main volume control automatically switches to control the headphone output level. Bi-color indicators on the front panel show signal presence (blue) and clipping (red). The rear panel has two balanced 1/4" jacks inputs, allowing connection of a stereo source or two mono sources. The monitors are interconnected with a standard XLR cable. The built-in USB interface allows connection of audio sources such as microphone preamps or instruments, enabling direct recording to the computer at 16-bit resolution and a sample rate of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz.
