About Ibanez
Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. The name is derived from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935 the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador" and later changed the name to "Ibanez".
