The slim body of the APX combines great comfort with easy access to the upper frets and a sound optimized for live performance, featuring balanced mids, crisp highs, and controlled lows. The specially designed, flat X-bracing allows the guitar top to vibrate with full harmonic richness and enhances body resonance, which, thanks to its unique shape, imparts a natural and powerful tone. Dynamics, sensitivity, and clarity have always been key characteristics of the APX since its initial designs.

The slim APX body offers a blend of exceptional comfort with easy access to the highest frets and an optimized sound for live playing. The specially crafted flat X-bracing maximizes body resonance, resulting in a natural and powerful tone. The distinctive APX soundhole boosts mid-low response and provides greater projection and volume to the bass frequencies.

The electronics feature a Yamaha-developed piezo pickup located under the saddle. Controls include a 3-band EQ, an adjustable mid control, and a highly accurate chromatic tuner. Power is supplied by two AA batteries.
