Designed in collaboration with independent pedal builder Analog Man, the MXR Duke of Tone Overdrive is for musicians looking to add a touch of warmth and character to their rig while allowing the natural tone and feel of their high-end gear to shine through. Based on the Prince of Tone Overdrive, the single-channel version of the King of Tone Overdrive, this pedal is the vintage enthusiast’s dream come true. Analog Mike personally tested and combined all the various through-hole components with the King of Tone Overdrive, ensuring that the sweet tonal seasoning stays true to the lineage: a warm yet clear and open sound that reveals all the nuances of your signal chain, from individual guitar strings to the dynamics of your amplifier’s tubes.
The Duke of Tone Overdrive also features the same simple yet effective control interface. The Volume, Drive, and Tone knobs cover all your basic adjustments, while the Boost/OD/Distortion switch lets you set the overall attitude of the pedal’s output. The Boost mode provides a clean but punchy hit, OD adds a touch of grit and compression, and Distortion pushes the gain even further. In all modes, your rig will still sound like your rig. Don’t be afraid to get creative: the Duke of Tone Overdrive works great when combined with other gain pedals, and running the pedal at 18 V will give you extra dynamic headroom and clarity, especially in Boost mode.
For a sound that’s uniquely yours, nothing beats the MXR Duke of Tone Overdrive in collaboration with Analog Man. Add one to your pedalboard and elevate your signal chain.
