The RAT was one of the most popular distortion pedals of the late 1970s, known for its wide tonal range with warm, creamy, and full-bodied distortion. It was designed by Scott Burnham and released by Pro Co in 1979, just before Japanese manufacturers flooded the market with their products. Its construction was very robust (using a steel chassis), and the electronic components were of very high quality. The printed circuit board met military standards (the strictest in quality control). A precision tank built for the toughest battles.
