The name S2 stands for “Stevensville 2,” referencing the second manufacturing line created by PRS within their own factory. This series includes highly versatile models, from modern-cut guitars to more traditional options like the McCarty 594.
Our Opinion
The S2 Standard 24 is a very interesting option within PRS for those looking for a serious, straightforward guitar without excessive ornamentation, but with professional features. The mahogany body provides warmth and sustain, while the 58/15 LT pickups deliver a clear, versatile response suitable for rock, blues, pop, fusion, or pedal-driven sounds.
Compared to a Custom with a maple top, this Standard has a more subdued and compact approach, with a very “workhorse guitar” character. It’s an excellent choice for anyone wanting a comfortable, stable, and stage-ready PRS American guitar.
