Description

The PRS S2 Studio is an electric guitar from the S2 series designed for guitarists seeking a versatile, comfortable instrument with a broad sonic palette. Its combination of two Narrowfield pickups and a 58/15 LT humbucker allows for a range of sounds, from clear, characterful clean tones to fuller tones suitable for rock, blues, pop, or live performance.

With a solid mahogany body and a maple top, a set-in mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and PRS Tremolo, it offers a well-balanced instrument for those who want a single PRS capable of covering many styles without losing its identity.

S2 Series

The PRS S2 series is manufactured in the United States, at PRS's factory in Stevensville, Maryland. It is a range designed for guitarists seeking the character, comfort, and reliability of PRS with a more straightforward approach than the Core series.

The name S2 stands for “Stevensville 2,” referring to the second manufacturing line created by PRS within their own facility. This series includes highly versatile models, from modern-cut guitars to more traditional options like the McCarty 594.

Our Opinion

The S2 Studio is one of those PRS guitars that works very well as a main instrument for players who need to cover multiple styles without switching guitars. The Narrowfield pickups provide a more defined and open sound compared to traditional humbuckers, while the 58/15 LT bridge pickup adds extra body for more punchy tones.

We find it particularly interesting for gigging or studio guitarists looking for a PRS made in the USA, with serious finishes and more versatile electronics than the typical two-humbucker setup.
