Sometimes innovation lies in the details, and this has been the case with the new version of the Martin D28. After nearly a century at the forefront and as the flagship model for music legends like Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and many more, the legendary Martin D-28 has been thoughtfully refined with love and craftsmanship.
The model produced after World War II had a slightly different look from its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk-rock movements during their peak in the 1950s and 60s, says Chris Martin, President and CEO of Martin Guitars: “This model combines the best features of the D-28 from the eras of my grandfather and my father.”
The new D-28 blends the guitar’s rich history with Martin’s latest innovations. With over 184 years of craftsmanship, the manufacturer has integrated classic elements such as open-gear tuners, an aged Sitka spruce top, vintage-style binding, and a “Tortoise Shell” pickguard, along with a new neck profile to provide D-28 enthusiasts with a modern feel and ultra-comfortable playability. Martin has also added a new bracing pattern with shifted internal reinforcements to enhance top vibration. The legend just got better!
