About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. The brand is named after Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose outstanding guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, which closed in 1933. With the Japanese market left underserved, the importer decided in 1935 to start producing Spanish-style guitars independently, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."
