About Ibanez
Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. The name is derived from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession impacted the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish-style guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador" before eventually changing the brand to just "Ibanez".
