Description
The Ibanez MDM1305 is a 5-string electric bass from the Mode series that combines a classic-inspired aesthetic with features designed for the modern bassist. Its ash body provides a clear, defined response, while the MDM5 neck and roasted maple fingerboard offer stability, attack, and a solid feel when playing. The distinctive MDM body shape and the Super All Access Neck Joint make it easy to access all 24 frets and promote a comfortable position in both low and high registers. The passive Ibanez Delta S5J pickups deliver a defined and articulate character with noise cancellation, while the Sonitech S 3-band preamp offers extensive tonal control. Its Hexa Mid system allows selection between six different mid frequencies via two banks, enabling precise adjustments to suit various styles and situations. The MDM1305 also features a bypass switch for the EQ via push/pull, stainless steel frets, Aero-light tuning machines, luminous side markers, and a removable finger ramp.

Our Opinion The MDM1305 is a very versatile option for bassists who want five strings but prefer a feel and response similar to a traditional design. The 18 mm spacing provides enough room for fingerstyle or slap techniques, while the ash body and roasted maple set contribute to a clear, punchy sound. Its main advantage lies in the electronics: the Hexa Mid system allows precise control over specific mid frequencies, making it easy to find the right space within a mix. It’s especially suitable for musicians needing a versatile bass for live performances, studio work, or various styles without constantly relying on external EQ.

About IBANEZ

Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. Its name honors Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars independently and distributed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the brand was renamed simply "Ibanez."
