The Starfire Bass II is a semi-hollow, double pickup bass that adds tonal options to one of Guild's most iconic models, the Starfire Bass. The Starfire Bass II originally debuted in 1967, shortly after the single-pickup version, and quickly gained followers including Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) and Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead).
Adding the BiSonic BS-1 neck pickup to the Starfire Bass II provides bassists with a warmer, smoother sound for greater tonal flexibility. This double-cutaway bass features a carved laminated mahogany top and back, mahogany sides, dual Guild BS-1 pickups, individual volume, tone, and master volume controls, and a pickup selector switch. A high-gloss transparent finish highlights the natural beauty of this bass. The Starfire Bass II brings Guild’s vintage vibe to the modern bassist.

The BS-1 has developed a cult following, resulting in several reissue versions and designs, including Fred Hammon's famous Darkstar and Curtis Novak's BS-DS. Wound to 6.4K ohms, similar in specs to a Hammon Darkstar, the Guild BS-1 delivers a modern, refined tone in a classic package.
