Our Opinion

The great value of the MDM1600 lies in combining the familiar character of a J-style dual-pickup bass with the comfort and adjustable features expected by today's bass players. It is especially suitable for musicians who need to switch from a warm, discreet sound to a more defined and present tone without changing instruments.

We would recommend it for live performances, studio work, and situations where covering multiple styles with a single instrument is important. Its access to 24 frets and removable ramp also make it an excellent choice for fast fingerstyle, slap, chords, and advanced techniques.

About IBANEZ

Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. Its name honors Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars independently and distributed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the brand was renamed simply "Ibanez."
