About Ibanez

Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. The brand name comes from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by the Hoshino Gakki company. The 1929 recession impacted the firm, which closed in 1933. With the Japanese market left underserved, the importer decided in 1935 to start producing Spanish-style guitars in-house, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."

About IBANEZ

Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. Its name honors Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars independently and distributed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the brand was renamed simply "Ibanez."
