About Ibanez

Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name derives from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibanez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The company was affected by the 1929 recession, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935 the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars independently, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the name was shortened to "Ibanez".
