About Electro Harmonix.
Electro Harmonix is one of those legendary companies that has managed to stay strong in the market since 1968, when guru Mike Matthews founded the brand in New York City.
Mike balanced his work between the computer company IBM and his garage, where he built pedals for many years. His first creation was the LPB-1, a simple booster-line driver that quickly gained fame.
In the early 1980s, Electro Harmonix was forced to close due to the influx of Asian companies like Roland/Boss, Ibanez, and Tokai entering the musical instrument market. Fortunately, it made a comeback a few years ago by reissuing its classic designs in a new phase of the company, renamed by Mike as New Sensor.
Since its inception, the factory specialized in effects pedals, attracting prominent figures in music such as Carlos Santana, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Jack White (The White Stripes), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Edge (U2), Cliff Burton (Metallica), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).
