The Fuzz Face debuted in 1966 as a model equipped with germanium transistors, and in the 1970s, all Fuzz Faces produced incorporated silicon components for circuit stability reasons. However, the powers that be barely adapted the circuit to the new semiconductors, only changing one part to reflect it. As a result, the Starcrash is the 70s fuzz you wish had been manufactured from the start.
First, we've removed that ridiculous Fuzz button. We know that 95 percent of guitarists keep it turned down, and the remaining five percent use their guitar's volume control to manage it. Second, we've installed a convenient Bias control, also known as the "dying battery simulator." This control deprives the second transistor of voltage and allows you to adjust the texture from raw and muscular to poor and harmonically rich. The Low-Cut control activates a tastefully executed filter circuit that cuts bass frequencies from 40 Hz to 500 Hz with a turn of a knob. While the bias and filter controls cut volume, we've compensated by giving the Starcrash a bit more volume than the typical "Face" circuit, so it can still push your amplifier regardless of the knob settings.
