This special edition Band of Gypsys Fuzz pays tribute to the legendary Jimi Hendrix with a custom finish featuring the iconic 1968 Shrine Auditorium concert poster by prolific and renowned rock artist John Van Hamersveld, remixed by Simon Berndt of One Horse Town Illustration. A starburst, serene sunflowers, and psychedelic lettering in warm, vibrant colors enhance the magic of the contrast. Housed in a MXR mini enclosure, the Jimi Hendrix '68 Shrine Series Band of Gypsys Fuzz is based on a mysterious Fuzz Face distortion that Jimi Hendrix used in several iconic shows between 1969 and 1970, especially during the Band of Gypsys performance.
Red with white knobs, this particular fuzz sounded like a completely different beast compared to any other Fuzz Face pedals in his arsenal, with an aggressive and biting tone. The pedal itself was lost to history, but its unmistakably unique sound lives on in the recordings. Our engineers distilled the sound into a version of the Octavio circuit that lacked the famous octave-up effect of that pedal. After some fine-tuning, they perfected it with the Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini Distortion.
