The PRS S2 Vela takes the PRS concept into a more alternative territory, with an offset mahogany body, set neck, and a bright, direct response with lots of character. Its combination of a PRS DS-01 humbucker in the bridge position and a PRS Narrowfield in the neck offers a very versatile palette, with punch, definition, and a coil-tap option to expand the available sounds.

Series S2
The PRS S2 series is manufactured in the United States, at PRS's factory in Stevensville, Maryland. It’s a range designed for guitarists seeking the character, comfort, and reliability of PRS with a more straightforward approach compared to the Core series.
The name S2 stands for “Stevensville 2,” referencing the second manufacturing line created by PRS within its own factory. This series features highly versatile models, from modern-cut guitars to more traditional options like the McCarty 594.
Our Opinion
The S2 Vela is one of the most interesting PRS models for players looking to step away from the brand’s more traditional formats without sacrificing a serious, comfortable, and well-built guitar. The offset body gives it a distinctive aesthetic, but the real strength lies in its balance of clarity, punch, and versatility.
The combination of DS-01 and Narrowfield pickups works very well for expressive clean tones, defined crunch, and vintage-inspired sounds without losing stability or precision.
