The PRS S2 Vela HHT takes the offset character of the Vela into a more powerful and versatile territory, featuring a dual humbucker PRS DS-01 configuration and PRS Patented Tremolo bridge. It retains the mahogany body, set neck, and 25" scale length, but adds more weight in the bass, defined attack, and the ability to split the pickups via push/pull for expanded tonal range.

Series S2
The PRS S2 series is manufactured in the United States, at PRS’s factory in Stevensville, Maryland. It is a range designed for guitarists seeking the character, comfort, and reliability of PRS with a more straightforward approach than the Core series.
The name S2 stands for “Stevensville 2,” referencing the second manufacturing line created by PRS within their own facility. This series features highly versatile models, from modern-cut guitars to more traditional options like the McCarty 594.
Our Opinion
The S2 Vela HHT is the most interesting option within the Vela family for those looking for an offset-style guitar with a more modern and punchy response. Compared to the standard Vela, the dual humbucker DS-01 provides more body, more attack, and a fuller character, especially useful for rock, alternative, high-energy indie, or gain-heavy sounds.
The addition of the PRS tremolo and locking tuners also make it more suitable for live or studio use. It remains a comfortable, stable PRS with its own personality, but this HHT version feels less vintage and more ready for guitarists who need versatility without sacrificing clarity.
