For an extended period, Ibanez has continued to energize the hollow body market with a wide range of designs that include everything from semi-hollow rock hybrids to traditional jazz boxes. The expressive Artcore line marked another chapter in the history of Artcore.
Jazz enthusiasts will recognize the original Ibanez Super 58, the pickup favored by George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield in their signature models. A favorite among jazz musicians, it has also proven to perform well in a variety of settings. About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name derives from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador" and later changed it to "Ibanez".
