Billy Duffy emerged from London's early '80s post-punk scene with Theatre of Hate before teaming up with Ian Astbury to form one of the most powerful, unique, and enduring duos in rock 'n' roll: The Cult. Duffy's thick, powerful chord voicings combined with lush delay and chorus effects, melodic phrases inspired by Morricone, and gritty feedback-laden solos created an unmistakable sound larger than most venues could contain.
