About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. The name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by the Hoshino Gakki company. The 1929 recession affected the firm, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935 the importer decided to start producing Spanish-style guitars independently, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."
