The primary function of the Line Level Shifter is to raise or lower the voltage of the signal between -10dBu and +4dBV (depending on the routing direction). The Line Level Shifter also breaks the loop antenna that causes hum and buzz, as well as converting between balanced and unbalanced connections, preventing the cable from acting as an antenna for noise.
Simply connect one channel of the Line Level Shifter between mismatched devices via the cable connections. The Line Level Shifter will not affect audio quality; it will improve it.
