About Electro-Harmonix.
Electro-Harmonix is one of those legendary companies that has managed to stay strong in the market since 1968, when the guru Mike Matthews founded the brand in New York City.
Mike balanced his work between IBM and his garage at home, where he built pedals for many years. His first creation was the LPB-1, a simple booster-line driver that quickly gained fame.
In the early 1980s, Electro-Harmonix was forced to close due to the influx of Asian companies like Roland/Boss, Ibanez, and Tokai entering the musical instrument market. Fortunately, it made a comeback years later by reissuing its classic designs under a new phase of the company, renamed by Mike as New Sensor.
Since its inception, the factory has specialized in effects pedals, attracting prominent musicians such as Carlos Santana, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Jack White (The White Stripes), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Edge (U2), Cliff Burton (Metallica), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).
