Few guitarists in the world deserve as much respect as Alex Skolnick. Alex, initially gaining fame as the teenage phenomenon playing guitar for Testament, a Bay Area thrash metal band, has expanded into multiple genres, including sophisticated jazz with his Alex Skolnick Trio.
The AS-1FR takes Alex's original design and adds a Floyd Rose bridge for expressive playing. This traditional shape is complemented by contemporary features, including a U-shaped mahogany neck with through-body construction for smooth access along the entire fretboard. Its sound is powered by a premium set of Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickups.
Its versatile controls include individual volume knobs for each pickup, a tone control with a push-pull coil split for the neck pickup, and a pickup selector switch. Other high-end components include Dunlop Straplok and Grover tuners. The Alex Skolnick LTD AS-1 comes in a translucent Black Aqua Sunburst finish over its figured flame maple top.
