About Ibanez

Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. Its name is derived from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibanez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The recession of 1929 affected the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars on its own and distributed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the name was changed to "Ibanez."
