About Ibanez

Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The recession of 1929 impacted the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935 the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish-style guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador" and later changed it to "Ibanez".
