About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. The name comes from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession impacted the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so the importer decided in 1935 to start producing Spanish guitars on its own, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."
