About Ibanez
Ibanez is a Japan-based manufacturer of guitars and basses. The name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession impacted the company, which closed in 1933. With the Japanese market left underserved, the importer decided in 1935 to start producing Spanish-style guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador," later shortening it to "Ibanez."
