Electro Harmonix 12AT7 TUNG-SOL.
- Equivalent to ECC 83
- High gain
- Ultra-low microphonics
- Excellent linearity
The 12AT7 combines two high transconductance triodes in a miniature 9-pin construction. Its low capacitance and high plate current-to-transconductance ratio make it suitable for use as a high-frequency combined oscillator and mixer, or as a grounded-grid radio frequency amplifier.
About Electro Harmonix.
Electro Harmonix is one of those legendary companies that has managed to stay strong in the market since 1968, when guru Mike Matthews founded the brand in New York City.
Mike balanced his work between the IBM computer company and his home garage, where he built pedals for many years. His first creation was the LPB-1, a very simple booster-line driver that quickly became famous.
In the early 1980s, Electro Harmonix was forced to close due to the flood of Asian companies invading the musical instrument market, such as Roland/Boss, Ibanez, and Tokai. Fortunately, it made a comeback a few years ago by reissuing its classic designs in a new phase of the company, renamed by Mike as New Sensor.
From the beginning, the factory specialized in effects pedals, attracting major music figures like Carlos Santana, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Jack White (The White Stripes), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Edge (U2), Cliff Burton (Metallica), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).
