The SM86 has a condenser capsule that delivers studio-quality sound and a cardioid pattern that isolates the main sound source while minimizing background noise. This makes it ideal for use with stage monitors and in-ear monitoring. It has an extended high-frequency response from 15 Hz to 18 kHz and a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 124 dB. The internal 3-point shock mount reduces handling noise, and the dual-layer pop filter minimizes wind and breath noises.
