Description

The PRS Mary Cries is an analog optical compressor inspired by the operation of classic studio compressors like the LA-2A. Its circuit allows you to control signal peaks, balance dynamics, and extend sustain while maintaining the guitar's natural character and clarity.

Its simple control panel features Compression and Output Gain adjustments, making it easy to dial in anything from transparent, light compression to a thicker, more sustained sound. Reducing compression and increasing the output level can also turn it into a clean boost to push the amplifier or highlight specific passages.

Our Opinion

The PRS Mary Cries is an excellent choice for players seeking to control dynamics without the overly tight or artificial effect that some compressors produce. Its operation is straightforward, responds musically to playing intensity, and adds body and sustain to both clean and overdriven sounds. It’s also particularly practical as a clean boost with a slight compression touch.
