JHS Hard Drive Black
The JHS Hard Drive is the first attempt in the fifteen-year history of JHS to create a complete and respectable modern distortion pedal that is not based on a previous circuit or a classic topology. In 2016, they started exploring pedals, then amplifiers, and after exploring the typical circuit paths, they finally decided to start from scratch. Eight years later, the pedal is finished and ready to take the guitarist to the next level. The Hard Drive delivers more power and aims to go further than any gain or distortion they've released so far.
A new approach to achieving high-gain distortion in a pedal format, the Hard Drive features cascading gain stages and a strong limiter circuit, followed by a class AB amplifier section that drives a 'mid-range' EQ and Baxandall bass and treble controls. With its generous external controls, the Hard Drive allows you to shape everything from a tube amplifier crunch to an authentic wall of distortion that can easily cut through any stage or studio mix.
The Hard Drive holds a special place in JHS history as the final design work of our former chief engineer, Cliff Smith. The prototype and design were completed just a few weeks before his passing in 2021.
