Description

The Gretsch Streamliner CVT is a solid-body, double-cutaway electric guitar that combines a classic retro-inspired aesthetic with straightforward, comfortable construction geared toward rock. Its mahogany body features beveled contours and a rounded heel that facilitate access to the upper frets, while the mahogany neck with a Fast “C” profile provides a fast, manageable feel.

Its two Gretsch HotWire High Output Ceramic Humbucker pickups deliver a powerful, defined signal with the punch needed for riffs, distorted chords, and solos with presence. The compensated Wrap-Around bridge, Graph Tech NuBone nut, and Pitch-Perfect headstock angle design contribute to a responsive tone, good sustain, and stable tuning.

Our Opinion

This new Streamliner CVT strikes us as an excellent choice for players looking to step into Gretsch with a more direct, rock-oriented instrument than their traditional hollow body models. It features a simple setup, is comfortable to play, and its pickups deliver enough output for distortion without the sound becoming dull or unfocused.

We would especially recommend it as a first serious guitar, a practice instrument, or for those needing an electric guitar suited for rock, punk, garage, and alternative styles. It’s not designed to replicate the open, distinctive sound of classic Filter’Tron pickups; instead, the focus is on delivering more punch, sustain, and ease of working with overdrive and distortion.

About GRETSCH

Gretsch was founded in 1883 in Brooklyn by Friederich Gretsch, who gained a strong reputation for manufacturing percussion instruments. In 1939, they launched their first electric guitar, the Electromatic Spanish. Renowned artists like Chet Atkins have used instruments from this manufacturer, bringing them to the global stage.

About the Streamliner Series

The Gretsch Streamliner series features semi-hollow and hollow body guitars with classic Gretsch aesthetics at a more affordable price. It's a very versatile range suitable for rock, blues, indie, jazz, or vintage-character sounds.
