About Ibanez
Ibanez is a manufacturer of guitars and basses based in Japan. The name derives from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935, the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars on its own, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the name was shortened to "Ibanez".
