About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name comes from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibanez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market became underserved, leading the importer in 1935 to start manufacturing Spanish guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the name was shortened to "Ibanez".
