The Ibanez MDM1300 is a 4-string electric bass from the Mode series that combines a design inspired by classic styles with the ergonomics and versatility characteristic of Ibanez. Its alder body provides a defined and bright tone, while the roasted maple neck and fingerboard offer stability, attack, and a direct response. The MDM body and the Super All Access Neck Joint are designed to deliver good balance and easy access to the 24 frets.
Its pair of passive Ibanez Delta S4J pickups delivers a single-coil character—clear and balanced—yet with noise-canceling design. The active Sonitech S 3-band preamp significantly expands its tonal options through the Hexa Mid system, which allows selecting six different frequencies for the mid control. Additionally, it features a bypass switch for the EQ via push/pull, master tone, stainless steel frets, Aero-light tuning machines, and a removable finger ramp.

Our Opinion
The MDM1300 is especially appealing for those seeking the direct and familiar response of a traditional 4-string bass, but with many more tonal shaping options. The alder body and roasted maple set provide a clear, defined attack, while the Delta S4J pickups maintain that articulate character without the typical noise of conventional single coils. The Hexa Mid system is one of its strengths, allowing precise control over midrange frequencies to enhance presence in the mix. This bass is highly versatile for live performances and studio work, with modern comfort and construction details that go well beyond a classic design.
