This fuzz pedal is essential if you're after classic tones from the ’60s and ’70s. The Analog Alien FuzzBubble 45 draws inspiration from the iconic guitar sounds of bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Jimi Hendrix. While your guitar and amp will naturally add their own character to the FuzzBubble 45, its sound is instantly recognizable.
Controls
Overdrive Circuit
The OD side is designed to emulate a classic ’60s and ’70s tube amp tone—sounds that have become legendary among rock guitarists. The controls are straightforward and intuitive.
Output Control
The output knob adjusts the level sent to your amplifier or the next effect in your signal chain. The input level is controlled by your guitar’s volume knob, just like when plugged into a classic amp. Tweaking your guitar’s volume knob can dramatically change the pedal’s tone and response.
‘Year’ Control
The Year knob sets the amount of gain sent to the pedal’s overdrive circuit. Turning it clockwise toward ’77 increases distortion, producing a rich harmonic texture. This enhances every note and chord you play, especially power chords. Like a vintage tube amp, each note remains clear. The circuit is also very touch-sensitive, responding to your playing dynamics.
Tone Switch
The tone switch lets you roll off some of the low frequencies. Depending on your guitar’s pickups, this switch can really help fine-tune your sound.
Fuzz Circuit
The Fuzz side is based on the FuzzFace. Like the OD side, the controls are simple and easy to use.
Input/Output Controls
The input controls how much signal enters the pedal. The output controls the amount of distorted signal sent to your amp. As with most FuzzFaces, cleaning up your signal with your guitar’s volume knob works wonderfully. You can roll back your guitar’s volume without worrying about the tone getting too thin.
Haze Control
This knob sets the fuzz saturation intensity. It interacts closely with the input control, allowing you to dial in anything from aggressive fuzz to a much smoother tone depending on how both are set.
Tone Switch
The tone switch works the same way as on the Overdrive circuit, rolling off bass frequencies based on your guitar and pickups.
A Highly Versatile Pedal
The real flexibility of this pedal lies in the fact that both sides are designed to work together. They are two distinct circuits that complement each other, and you can even make one side sound similar to the other.
