DiMarzio DP100FBK Super Distortion F-spaced Electric Guitar Pickup Black
- Magnet: Ceramic
- Resistance: 13.68 Kohms
- Cables: 4 conductors
- Output: 425 mV
When DiMarzio first developed the Super Distortion, it was a single-conductor pickup. As a four-conductor pickup, it offers incredible versatility. The coil split produces a tone very similar to a Stratocaster, both in sound and output. The parallel wiring is similar to the coil split but remains humbucking and sounds a bit more hollow; Paul Gilbert used to connect two Super Distortion pickups in parallel while playing with Racer X.
About DiMarzio
The impact of DiMarzio pickups goes far beyond providing musicians with a new and powerful way to shape their sound. DiMarzio pickups literally enabled the next generation of guitar builders to challenge the status quo.
Simply put, DiMarzio pickups powered instruments from Ibanez, Hamer, Charvel, BC Rich, Dean, Spector, Jackson, Sadowsky, SD Curly, and helped create a new sonic landscape. DiMarzio’s fresh, often radical ideas were a key component for guitarists and builders focused on the future. DiMarzio pickups were embraced by an incredibly talented generation of musicians who used them to push the technical and sonic boundaries of the instrument. DiMarzio helped give voice to their sonic expression. And that’s exactly what Larry DiMarzio continues to do today.
