DiMarzio DP187BK The Cruiser Bridge Black electric guitar pickup
- Magnet: Ceramic
- Resistance: 5.75 Kohms
- Cables: 4-conductor
- Output: 143 mV
The obvious question about The Cruiser is "How does it compare to a single-coil sound?" The unwound strings ("E", "B", and "G") are very close, and the wound strings ("D", "A", and "low E") have a thicker sound than a true single-coil. There’s also a mid-range bump that is exclusive to the Cruiser Bridge. This is really effective for achieving chords with a full sound because the high and low strings sound more separated from each other. Having a total magnetic attraction that is approximately 40% lower than standard single-coils also means The Cruiser can be adjusted much closer to the strings for more output than standard pickups can deliver.
About DiMarzio
The impact of DiMarzio pickups goes far beyond providing musicians with a new, powerful way to shape their sound. DiMarzio pickups literally made it possible for the next generation of guitar builders to challenge the status quo.
In simple terms, DiMarzio pickups propelled instruments like Ibanez, Hamer, Charvel, BC Rich, Dean, Spector, Jackson, Sadowsky, SD Curly, and helped create a new sound. DiMarzio’s fresh and often radical ideas were a key component for guitarists and builders looking to push the boundaries of the instrument’s tone and technique. DiMarzio pickups were embraced by a generation of incredibly talented musicians who used them to redefine the technical and sonic limits of their instruments. DiMarzio helped give voice to their sonic expression. And that’s exactly what Larry DiMarzio is still doing today.
