The Air Norton started as DiMarzio's Airbucker version of the Norton. DiMarzio envisioned it as a distinctive bridge pickup for high-gain amplifiers, but they discovered it also functions as a radically versatile neck pickup. The tone is deep and warm, yet clear. It’s hot but not distorted. It even produces cool harmonics, which are quite unusual for a neck humbucker. The proprietary magnetic structure of the Air Norton reduces string pull, enhancing sustain; and the attack and dynamics are incredibly controllable and expressive.
