Playing your favorite tube amplifier with the perfect cabinet at bedroom volume is a unique and unforgettable experience. Thanks to the Torpedo Captor, you can achieve this at bedroom levels. Even allowing silent recording late at night.
The back pain from carrying your gear, complaints from neighbors, venue staff, or even bandmates, and the frustration of not being able to sound your best while trying to keep the volume down are things of the past. The Torpedo Captor has been designed to meet the needs of direct recording or microphone capture of any guitar or bass amplifier, whether live or in the studio.
What is a reactive load box?
To play your amplifier without a cabinet, you need a load box, also known as a Reactive Loadbox. This box uses reactive technology, meaning it perfectly emulates the impedance of a speaker. Your amplifier will believe it is connected to a real speaker cabinet. Two notes is renowned for manufacturing load boxes that are among the most accurate and feature-rich in the world.
Speaker simulation
When using the Captor on stage connected directly to the PA, you will need to refine the sound coming from the amplifier. The analog speaker simulator is derived from the acclaimed Le Preamp series. You can achieve a detailed, focused sound for both monitors and PA while keeping stage volume low. Torpedo Wall Of Sound is a free plugin that includes a vast collection of virtual cabinets and microphone options for the ultimate direct solution.
Attenuator
If you want to keep your cabinet on stage or in your room, the Captor features a THRU or ATT speaker output. It allows full volume or a fixed attenuation of -20 dB. This helps maintain the amplifier at its optimal point with manageable volumes.
- Impedance of 4 Ohms
- Power handling up to 100W
- Fan-cooled
- 1/4" TS Jack input (unbalanced) for cabinet connection
- 1/4" TS Jack output (unbalanced) for -20dB attenuation
- 1/4" TS Jack output (unbalanced) 'Thru' to connect directly to the cabinet (eliminates load when in use)
- Line output 1/4" TRS Jack (balanced) without cabinet simulation (impedance approx. 1kOhm)
- XLR DI output (balanced) with or without cabinet simulation (impedance 600 Ohms)
