OD1

The OD1 channel from Optimist is based on the legendary overdrive, the most expensive and hardest to find ever created. Despite all its 'hype', this magical pedal remains one of the most natural-sounding overdrives ever made and has cemented its reputation in guitar history.

OD2

OD2 from Optimist contrasts strongly with the mid-focused tone of OD1. Designed to be perfectly flat across the entire guitar frequency range, OD2 is ideal for rhythm work and serves as a harmonic enhancer to push OD1 even further.

Equalizer

A high-quality studio-grade equalizer provides tremendous tonal flexibility to The Optimist. Based on the legendary Baxandall equalizer, which appears in countless studio EQs.

To activate the equalizer, press and release the OD1 and OD2 footswitches. The equalizer is post-OD and can also be used as a standalone function. The equalizer controls light up to indicate it is activated

MIDI

The Optimist features MIDI control over all functions! OD1, OD2, and EQ can be controlled via MIDI for unlimited tone options.

Cable information: To use MIDI, you'll need a cable that converts a MIDI (DIN-5) connector to a TRS cable. The Optimist defaults to MIDI channel 1.

The default setting sends MIDI on channel 1. This can be changed by pressing and holding the OD1 footswitch while powering on. Press the OD2 footswitch to increment the MIDI channel number.

Access to new MIDI functions is via Control Changes. Below is a list of functions accessible via MIDI and how to access them.

CC #1 – OD 1 ON/OFF (value 127 = ON / value 0 = OFF)

CC #2 – OD 2 ON/OFF (value 127 = ON / value 0 = OFF)

CC #3 – EQ ON/OFF (value 127 = ON / value 0 = OFF)
