About Ibanez

Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935 the importer started manufacturing Spanish-style guitars under the name "Ibanez Salvador," which was later shortened to "Ibanez."
