About Ibanez

Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. Its name derives from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibanez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The recession of 1929 affected the company, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left without supply, so in 1935 the importer decided to start manufacturing Spanish guitars on their own and distributed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." Later, the name was changed to "Ibanez".
