SE Electronics VR2

The VR2 is an active ribbon microphone designed to enhance the biting and sharp sound of our guitar cabinets without adding those muddy high frequencies. The VR2, an active ribbon microphone, can bring violins and vocals directly to the forefront of the stereo mix your listeners will hear. sE's VR ribbon microphones represent a new era in ribbon mic technology. Until the introduction of the VR Series, the only ribbon microphone capable of operating in the full 20Hz to 20kHz range was our collaboration product with Rupert Neve, the RNR1. This was achieved using custom high-performance transformers and a Rupert Neve-designed circuit to reveal the HF frequencies typically absent.

With the VR microphones, full frequency response is achieved through an intelligent mechanical design by Siwei Zou, the company's CEO, combined with a hand-tensioned ribbon built by our highly skilled capsule manufacturing technicians at sE. The result is an extraordinarily detailed, open, and natural recording of acoustic instruments and guitar cabinets.
