About Ibanez

Ibanez is a Japanese manufacturer of guitars and basses. The name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the company, leading to its closure in 1933. With the Japanese market left without supply, the importer decided in 1935 to start making Spanish-style guitars on its own, distributing them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."
