About Ibanez
Ibanez is a guitar and bass manufacturer based in Japan. The name comes from Spanish luthier Salvador Ibañez, whose excellent guitars were distributed in Japan by the company Hoshino Gakki. The 1929 recession affected the firm, which closed in 1933. The Japanese market was left underserved, so in 1935 the importer decided to start producing Spanish-style guitars independently and marketed them under the name "Ibanez Salvador." The name was later shortened to "Ibanez."
