The Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2 takes the Big Muff Pi 2's Dual Op-Amp circuit into a much more comprehensive and versatile format. It retains the thick character, extended sustain, and midrange punch of this design but adds tools that allow for much more precise fuzz shaping to suit different guitars, amplifiers, and settings.
In addition to the classic Volume, Tone, and Sustain controls, it features a Blend control to mix clean and processed signals, an adjustable noise gate, a three-position Wicker switch, and an active midrange parametric section with an independent footswitch. This section allows you to select the frequency, boost or cut it, and modify its resonance, with real-time control via expression pedal or CV. The pedal includes a 9 V power adapter.

Our Opinion
This is probably the Big Muff Pi 2 for those who want precise control over how the fuzz fits within a mix. The midrange section significantly alters the pedal's approach: instead of simply accepting the Muff's character, you can decide where you want it to push or make room, which is especially useful when working with multiple guitars or different amps.
The Blend and noise gate make it a much more practical tool than a traditional Muff. It can still produce huge, exaggerated sounds but also allows for much better tuning for live performance. Being able to move the midrange frequency with an expression pedal opens up very interesting possibilities, from wah-like sweeps to radical tonal shifts without stopping playing.
